Yeah Josh, front vents allow a far better gpu cooling, especially for r9 nano...:)

Is it possible to order just the body?..:)

If somebody does wanna order just the body, I'll buy the associated wraparound - I want a backup one to drill.

Out of curiousity, what do you do with the cases that don't paint out well enough to sell?

That color, amazing ! Combined with an anodized-black aluminium front bezel, jummy. And the orange one, another favorite color.
In this forum I'm like a kid in a candy store that sees all those jummy things and "mom" (my conscience) tells me I can only have one :(

Indeed, I love these colors that pop an eye out, dat Blue enclosure might be my favourite so far with the bright orange close in 2nd.
It's funny how much good paintwork can personalize an item.

That still looks gorgeous without the wrap-around, you should consider selling a pre-cut and pre-tapped mesh as an add-on for people who want to improve thermals in their S4 Mini. Or maybe have a version like this as an optional, lower-priced SKU? You assemble all the cases by hand anyway, so it's not like it would make handling more expensive.

This front mesh on gpu side could really change life on S4 mini thermals, especially with gpu with horizontal fins like R9 nano or GTX 1070 ITX

I think this design with mesh really works. I like them both actually. Can anyone tell me what the sticker hides?

Edit: Found out there are two screw holes behind it. I am interested if you josh will offer this design for sale aswell?

Also how did you attach the meshed plate?

Waking up, drinking coffee, and answering questions on SFF.net. What a beautiful morning!

I'm happy to ship it piecemeal if someone wants to work that out. I think it would be $10 to properly pack and ship the bezel in the USA so keep that in mind when you are in discussion with people. I can also hold onto it for you for you to sale at a later date and I can handle shipping--just keep in mind the cost to ship it overseas.

I do have some extras for sale now that I will put up in the sale in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread...

Strip them, sand them, etch them, and repaint them!

88 people have invested in me and purchased S4s. They all got a little card saying this is something I am proud of. If I sell someone else one that I am not proud of for less money, I suppose I could not include a card, but I don't want to cheapen what other people have invested in.

I have to think about this more...and I welcome opinions. :)

Thanks! I'm hoping that little mods like these will inspire people to do stuff with their 'Minis. I could easily cut the perforated plate and include it as an inexpensive addon (It's like 45 bucks shipped for a 3ftx3ft sheet), but it would have rough edges by its nature and doesn't seem professional. What do you think? I wanted to sell alternate billet bezels but haven't had time. Maybe I could just stamp some sheet metal bezels with venting on it.

Or maybe have a version like this as an optional, lower-priced SKU? You assemble all the cases by hand anyway, so it's not like it would make handling more expensive.

Yeah they are hand assembled, but I'd have to figure out how to order the wrap-around bezels. I've mentioned it before but they are the most expensive part of the whole thing, and it is scary to think about ordering less and having the cost go up even more! XD

I like this idea though. Maybe this is saying the S3 Mini needs to come back sooner.

Yeah it would make an incredible difference for the 285, 385, R9 Nano and the 970. But the bezel is removeable if you want to put a 220w+ TDP system in there.

You are wondering if I can sell the acrylic badge? PEOPLE WANT TO BUY MY LOGO?????

I have officially "made it."

;) just joking

The mesh is attached by a 6-32 screw as you see on the left side of the chassis. The HDPLEX overlaps the mesh on the right side by 5mm. On that side, I used "insanity tape" (every modder needs this stuff) If I had used the PICO160XT then I would have used two more 6-32 screws in those holes the badge covers.

So nice.
The teasing continues!
*I still really like the open air concept of the Skylake colored one. Hopefully this better airflow version will be an option?

Black and silver, now you're talking my language. But man, this makes it harder to continue my custom case XD

Hm, that's true. But you also did the HDPLEX power inlet mod which wasn't very professional either, and nobody seemed to care as long as it fit. If you are concerned about quality, maybe asking your sheet metal company for a quote on perforating a regular piece of sheet metal would be an option. That way you'd get clean edges and could make the perforation fit the overall design perfectly. You could even transfer the slot pattern from the side (that the bezel normally hides) onto there. And no matter how much that cost, it would still be cheaper than the wrap-around bezel ;)

Ah dang, didn't think about that. Not sure what the most costly part about them is (material, forming, anodisation), but maybe you could offset that by having a black and a silver option, so some people will buy two, not just one? Or - heresy - decrease the thickness of the panel a little bit to reduce cost?

@Josh , another option will be to release a modification kit of S4 mini that includes perforated sheet, holders, and plugs to hide holes..:)
For sure, I'll buy such a upgrade (modification) kit..:)

I'm going to be "that guy" and say I didn't really like the perforated steel filling in the rectangular hole, as it is so very different in pattern than the other visible patterns (diagonal slots). But I did think the aluminium bezel was perfect the way it was. Although maybe one that's considerably less thick could bring the price down. Or strip the InWin Chopin of it's aluminium bezel and sell those cases without it :D

It's aluminum thank you very much...

JK

I agree. It's just a mod. I had a fancier CNC bezel designed for these two systems but the day I reserved to get them cut the machine was broken so I needed a quick fix. This is what I had on hand. I didn't expect it to be as popular/controversial as it has been. XD

I think its probably a good thing though. Just because I am familiar with the Mini doesn't mean everyone else is. There are lots and lots of easy potential mods I thought of when I was making it I just haven't had time to do them or photograph them.

Easy potential mods sounds interesting, I always look for those in cases I buy and when those didn't cost too much, I'm usually doing them before doing the build even. My first build inside the InWin Chopin took about 4 hours just because I was contemplating various potential mods and doing various cable routes while removing this, bending that. I love those snippets of mods I can do.
