GPU RX 480 or wait for GTX 1060

Is this a normal 6700K? I'd be curious to know how much overhead we could knock off with a T series chip. Might squeak in on the 160W AC-DC + DC-DC HDPlex combo?

The GTX 1060 amazes me with the performance it gives: just as fast as a GTX 980, 125W max power consumption and already multiple ITX-sized cards have been shown. An excellent card for 1080p and often 1440p resolutions, if you can get close to MSRP. I've seen 340-380€ in The Netherlands, that's close to the MSRP of the GTX 1070.

I'm amazed they beat the RX480 with such a large margin, although Vulkan and DX12 could probably turn that around, it's not the situation that is relevant today.

Yeah Legitreviews has the EVGA ITX review up and they tested it with a 140W CPU and it still stayed around 230W lol

I've seen 340-380€ in The Netherlands, that's close to the MSRP of the GTX 1070.

In France (in euros):

• GTX1060 [279-399] (most expensive being the overclocked Asus Strix)
• GTX1070 [479-569] (non watercooled models)

What amaze me is that it delivers twice the perf of my former GTX770, for the same price at half the wattage.

I am running a 65 watt 6500 (with a few tweaks to get it to 45 watts), and EVGA GTX 960 SC (128 watt TDP) on a modified pico 160xt and 215 Watt Xbox one power brick. I have had absolutely no issues with stability in various games such as Crysis 3 and Doom. The modifactions done to the pico were limited to just increase wire gauge on both the power leads and the main harness. Power leads were increased to 14 gauge from 15 gauge and the main harness was increased to 16 gauge from 22 gauge.

A 35 watt cpu paired with the 1060 would likely consume high 100's to just over 200 watts at absolute full system load (benchmarks). Most of the time though you will likely be comfortably under 170 watts.

The EVGA 1060 non-SC is already sold out where I live, with first orders supposed to ship in August.

Hopefully by then, we'll have more details of the RX 470/460.

While the GTX 1060 is faster today, the RX 480 is faster "tomorrow":



Mind you that I'm not advocating that one is better than the other, just to put things into perspective.
