I found this on alphacools site, seems to be newly released. It can go up to 10000rpm so should provide sufficient cooling. They give 36db at 10000rpm and its pwm. Its not cheap but if it does a good job and is more silent then the standard coolers in these things it might be a good upgrade.

The pdf says the fan is ES, which should mean 'engineering sample'?
How expensive is it?
I did a casual search and found this Fengheng 40x20 fan. At 10000rpm, it can push 10.5 cfm (~18 m3/hr) with 27 dbA. It is cheap (~3 to 4 USD).

Dont really know what it stands for but they are talking a lot about enterprise in the description so I think it stands for that. They are 23 euro which is by far the most expensive 40mm fan I have seen (the noctua is 13-14 euro in europe). db rating is anyway subjective since everyone measures it in different ways. Might get one just to check it out. At that price it must be doing something very well or they are not gonna sell them I guess :)

the alphacool translates to over 11cfm so should be more then plenty, just dont know how silent it is. How are you controlling the fan, pwm from the motherboard or some other way. Some kind of microcontroller that translates 2 pin to pwm would be ideal for something like this I guess :)

Yep, should be totally sufficient.

If you want to control the fan speed via the PSU fan header, just connect + and - and you are good to go. But since this is a PWM fan you can also try to control it via your motherboard or buy a small PWM fan controller board with temp probe.

For example:

What about the maglev sunon fans that YTC likes to use for their modded PSUs? There are a few variants and the fastest seems to be KDE1204PKVX at 10.8 CFM. Below is a table I made myself as I am just curious on how the specs of various fans differ. The Noctua NF-A4x20 is definitely not fast enough.

The fan is silent in idle but starts to make a high pitched unpleasant sound when going over 200W
Would you say it's unbearably noisy going over 200W? I've been planning to do a 5800x + 3070 build (but considering the current state of GPU market it probably won't happen any time soon). I'm having a hard time choosing between this and Enhance 7660b. I wonder which one is less noisy with stock fan (don't want to do fan swaps). Reading reviews about Enhance 7660 isn't really helpful since some say it is silent but others complain about the noise.

I think same goes for the Extreme Cat 7760B. Some people might say it's OK but for me the noise with the stock fan it's definitely too unpleasant.

If you are not comfortable changing the fan by yourself - IIRC, some sellers like YTC offer the 7760B also pre-modded with a Noctua fan

All PSUs I know are powder coated.

But what is stopping you from painting over the powder coating?

i was told when you don't strip a powder coated item first, but try to just directly paint over it, the paintjob will be uneven.

but if its not powder coated, you can easily just paint directly over it.

basically, stripping the powder coating is an extra fee, which i'm trying to avoid.

please advise if this info is correct ??

got it.

will replace with another fan.
The Silverstone uses a 15mm fan, which is harder to find a quiet replacement for. You'll have much better luck with a 20mm fan.

Some have moded the case to fit a 20mm fan (it extends outwards). OR just get the tried and true 7660B from Velkase. It's what I'm going with.

At that price, the enhance is probably the better option. It also seems to have a 15mm in stead of a 20mm fan

if i don't have to pay another fee, to strip its powder coating first, then a SilverStone unit is the best price.

so i'm trying to confirm whether the SilverStone unit is powder coated.
