I'm currently running a Strix X470i / R5 2600x / GTX 1650 Aero ITX in my Dan Case A4 SFX and have just secured a new set of kit. For reference, my main gamer is a Strix H370i / i5 8400 / GTX 980Ti in a Sliger S610.

I bought the A4 to go lighter for LAN nights, as I missed the lightness of my NCase M1.

I have acquired a Vision Z590i / i5 11400F combo and a Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce. My (not so extreme SFF) friend that I got the i5 from suggested that the 11400F would run too hot in the A4 SFX and it should go in the S610.

I currently have a Thermalright AXP120-X67 which will only fit 'Hotrod' style like my Wraith Spire is at the moment! I have a standard Cryorig C7 in teh drawer that I can use, but would go for a Thermalright AXP90-X47 full copper if the 11400F is not too hot.
As far as i can tell, he's been running it with the power limits maxed out, and realise I'll need to rein it in on the A4.

Is he right? I am happy to limit the power to get to use the A4

I've been running various 6 cores with L9i's for like a million years. I'm pretty certain you'll be fine with the AXP90.

You can get intel mounts for the NH-L9a which might offer a teeny bit more thermal headroom, though you lose the ability of the L9i to choose the airflow direction.

[Edit] wait, the A4 can take a Blackridge cooler, and that can handle my 5800x3D

Good call on the extra L9a cooling. Not sure how the AXP 90 Copper compares. It's AXP 120 Hotrod or C7 for starters...
