PC Chassis Holes

I'm currently working on a custom pc, and in many of the designs I see there is U shaped holes along the side of the chassis. Do you know what these are? Are they important?

They prevent the side panels from rattling (U-shaped 'fingers' push the panel out, retention tabs pull it in, the two balance and prevent the panel moving), and also ensure good electrical contact between the side panel and the main body of the chassis, for RF blocking purposes.
