So I dug into the topic, because I might reboot my A4-H2O build, and decided that "just black" doesnt cut it anymore (one of the reasons I went with the S400 v2 instead, cause: White Build).

Apparently acrylic paint is good for anodized aluminium surfaces, but does anybody have experiences for this, esp. with perforated / "mesh" panels like the ones of the A4-H2O?

I read a bit about painting or vinyl wrapping the panels before, but the main concern seems to be getting / keeping the mesh holes open.

FYI: I'm not a stranger to acrylic paint and detailed paintworks in general, but never done it with metal panels.

My 2¢.

I'm planning to go for a Type III Black Hard Anodizing (Mil-A-8625 Type III, Class 2), which is basically Sulfuric Acid Anodizing at lowered temperature & higher voltage (1000VAC @ 0°C). It's going to be black, but it won't be paint or powder-coating, rather natural oxide layer of protection that's chemical treated to be optimized.
