Too little too late and I don't know if it would have helped but when I had to bend my heatpipes by hand(also couldn't use the pipe bender) I used solder to keep the shape. I picked up some cheap small diameter solder from a local hobby store(I believe it's for Stain glass windows). I then made a custom diameter and shape 'bending spring' with the solder. Since the solder is wound tightly around the heatpipe it minimizes the horizontal crimp that you'd otherwise see. Couple that with a bit of heat and a slow bend and you may see a better end cooling capacity. (If you wanted to spend more on another Accelero just to chance it, that is.)Some of the bends look a bit sharp, but the diameter is above 4mm for the most part, so they are still functional.
Also, glad to see the HDPlex heatsinks being put to use!
