Hi,

I realized there are a lot of „mobile“ displays which only accept a video signal via USB.

Will such a solution hit heavier on the computer resources than connecting a display - say - via VGA, if only using integrated (iGPU) graphics?

Finally I found some information saying it indeed causes an additional overhead.

I know those Electric Magic displays some user reviewed over here, they have Mini Display Port as well... However that one Amazon only allows to be ordered with a credit card from my location, but I don‘t use credit cards for that.

From experience they usually run a standalone DisplayLink compatible controller on board, so the performance hit on the system is pretty minimal, however the performance capacity of the monitor itself is pretty weak. I wouldn't expect to game on most USB external monitors!
