Has anyone tried to power up a low powered mini itx with POE switch, using DC to POE converter?
I was wondering if it's possible to do this on gemini lake boards such as beelink / liva.
Since they only consume <10 watts a single POE port should be able to power it.
The question now is if it's possible to do it with DC to POE converter,

Planning on doing this for 20-30 units powered by POE switch if possible.

Not an EE, but according to wikipedia, the voltage of standard POE variants is 37V - 57V, which is outside of the normal range of DC inputs for small PCs (~19V).

So yes, will likely need to convert the voltage.

Thanks for pointing this out,
would something like this work?

I dont see it mentioning voltage conversion..
I plan to use along with this, cause POE switch is expensive

Perhaps someone would be kind enough to test powering up their apollo/gemini nuc using something like this ?
https://www.ebay.com/bhp/poe-splitter
I don't have any gemini/apollo nuc right now so i cant test this.
It's cheap so I could probably buy it for the tester if somebody's willing to test it

There are a few PoE splitters that support 802.3at (PoE+) inputs and can output 12V/19V/24V.

The NUCs use 19V inputs, and I believe the DC-ATX power supplies do as well.

You just need to find a PoE splitter that can output 19V, which the one listed doesn’t seem to do.

Hmm apparently generic chinese poe splitter uses different dc socket connector with intel nuc.. im having trouble finding the one that matches nuc's.. it has to be 2.5mm ID 5 5mm OD otherwise it wont fit.
Secondly it has to be active POE, passive wont work, im ordering a custom splitter from alibaba..
Third problem is they are quite expensive.. maybe thats why its not popular, with that price point, it wont have any benefit over non-poe, maybe only if the electric cost in your country is very high
