On the B350 board, there is a quick switch between two of the SATA headers and the M.2 slot. So you will be able to run it as either x4 M.2 and up to two SATA devices or x2 M.2 and up to 4 SATA devices. The X370 board will be able to support x4 M.2 and up to 4 SATA devices all at once.

There are also different USB port numbers, but I don't think enough are exposed to begin with to make any difference. Someone was checking if the X370 boards x16 PCI-e slot could be bifurcated, but I haven't heard if Biostar got back to them with an answer; the B350 would not be able to be bifurcated.

Interesting point about the storage. I think the chipsets support different amount of usb, but the itx boards they are showing actually have the same (unless I misread). Kind of like the x370 supports sli, but on the itx board it doesnt really make a difference.

So it basically comes down to if you use a lot of drives you'll have to sacrifice m.2 speed.

Unless someone was lazy, I'm actually seeing identical specifications for STORAGE and USB on BioStar's pages.

You're right...I didn't dive into the recent specs. The initial specs had shown reduced bandwidth for M.2 and I though they got that back with quick switches, but I think they just separated out the SATA ports from the SATA-Express ports that aren't being used (and rightly so). So, the specs should be pretty much identical, save for the possibility of bifurcating the X370 PCI-e slot.

I think I'll be saving the ~$20 if I end up going with this board.

Assuming there isn't some erroneously copy/pasted data between the two boards.

One thing i noticed in the specs on the biostar site is that both boards only support max 95w to the cpu. This would limit overclocking ability no?

Personally im probably going with a 65w cpu so im not worried about it, but it might make others want to wait and see what other itx boards get released.

Yeah, if I get a Ryzen chip it'll be one of the 65W variants. They seem to be the best value in general since all of the chips are unlocked.

I doubt in a lot of ITX applications you would want your CPU to be drawing more than 95W, but that is a good catch and it probably does matter to someone.

Maybe slightly off topic, but I'm still very curious about the wraith stealth cooler height. Wish they'd released the specifications for it. Also the heatsink height vs just the full height of the spire (the fan looks pretty thick). The 53mm spire is too tall for what I'm planning, but maybe it'd be viable with a thinner fan attached.

Is it likely the cache difference between the 1400 and 1500x will make much of an impact? Would it be worth going 1500x vs 1400 clocked up to the same speed for the extra cache? My understanding of pc components is basically lego, this fits with this, but I'm a noob once it gets too technical lol.

I don't actually know, but I'm taking for granted it'll be clear which chip is better once the benchmarks start coming out.

I'm suspecting that the overall upgrade for ~$20 will be worth it.

WCCFtech has some more info up on the Biostar board.

The yellow highlights and checkered pattern on this "Racing" board would be perfect for a "Crazy Taxi" themed build.

*MSI just released an AM4 Grenade.... in Micro-ATX.
Great entry level board perfect for my needs but in the wrong form factor.

You would think that they would have named it the C4 given the size.

Very interesting. Looking forward to finally seeing it reviewed.

Still, so far as I can tell, the two boards have the exact same specifications (down to the included accessories!), I don't doubt that the chipsets are different between the boards but the features seem to be identical. Even the aesthetics and layouts of the boards look identical...

is there any reason to get x370 over b350?
AFAIK the main difference between chipsets is SLI/Crossfire support which won't be possible in mini ITX format anyway :p
or am I missing something?
