A month ago I managed so score a DanCase off of eBay, the issue is that it's coated in this red skull pattern and then clear coated. I was wondering if anyone knew how to safely remove the coat? I would like to be able to strip it down to the black that the case originally is.

A quick Google turns up that many recommend using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VI13L6/?tag=theminutiae-20 aircraft stripper or similar product for removing clear coat or paint. It may work on the hydrographic film as well. A guy ( https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/how_to_remove_hydro_dipping/19-372306/ ) says he used acetone / MEK to remove the film from plastic.

Reportedly, the aircraft stripper is "safe" for anodized finishes and may be more effective on the clear coat than MEK.

Get your safety gear together before you start and work in a ventilated space / outdoors. Google the MSDS for your product's active ingredient(s) before you start.
