Preorders are live!
That 200w plug in unit is beastly. Surprised the 200w AC/DC is so big though. The Meanwell is a good 2" shorter (though it does require some airflow, but I'd imagine in a PC case you will have plenty).

Looking forward to seeing more mini-sandwich style cases built around the 200w and 400w HD Plex power supplies!

Not sure how you power a CPU and GPU with a 200w unit except a GTX1650. I think the 400w is more realistic for any dedicated GPU. 200w may be for next-gen APUs or the Intel post-Ice Lake chips with Gen11/gen12 integrated graphics.

200 Watts should be fine to power a GTX 1060 and a 65w CPU. I just ordered my DC-ATX unit!

Not a problem at all. It wouldn't even be that difficult to run a 1660ti/65W CPU. RTX 2060 is possible with a slight undervolt (around 135-140W) and a 35W TDP CPU. Other components are a concern, so a mini-ITX board, a couple RAM modules, 1 or 2 fans, and an M.2 SSD should run you around 25-30W.
These Nano ATX PSUs are pretty stout and perfectly capable of handling occasional peaks above their rated wattage. Plus other than running simultaneous synthetic tests, you'll never actually see everything running at full bore at the same time.

I've got a Meanwell 200w unit + 160w PicoPSU powering a 65w CPU (2400g) and 1050ti GPU. I can run Prime95 and Furmark all day long without it tripping the PSU. I'd guess the extra 40w afforded by the 200w plug-in unit should at least get us up to GTX 1660 territory.

People often WAY overestimate power draw. Trust me, it can handle it, and this refresh is all the better.

With a low power chip, I'm almost certain it's possible.

I've seen a few people power 1060's with the 160w version. With another 40w to spare, it'll be easy peasy!

This is true, and the 200w will be a lifesaver for me and my next ultra SFF build. I have tried many orientations of the 65W CPU (Intel & AMD) + 120W GPU (960, 1060, etc) and the HDPlex 160 could never handle it beyond a few minutes of heavy load without crashing (gaming or synthetic). I recommend if anyone wants to do that combo to go the 200w route at the least!

Nice find.
That latch release button is such a welcome feature... I couldn't think how many times I struggled unplugging my unit, and it's not even as fat as this version.

The build and finish looks amazing. He even put different colored connector to indicate which is going to the unit. People have made those mistakes, they sure listen to them.

Will the Dynamo Mini 200W be thinner? /will there be one?

Unfortunately there will not be Dynamo power supplies being produced in the immediate future. While I'd love to come back to doing them, the expenditure to profit ratio was on the low side and I ultimately needed to pull the funds for something that will ultimately be much more lucrative. My hopes would be to come back with a 12V based GaN solution in the future as the technology matures. 12V distribution will require much smaller DC-DC solutions than 19V and will produce a lot less heat inside the case while 12V DC-DC conversion will be stupidly efficient (>95%). Hopefully will be getting some GaN based external bricks from Taiwan in the fall and depending on how those go may move forward sooner rather than later with my plans.

Ah, that's too bad. Well, if this is headed in the direction of smaller, I'm all for it.

I've got a pre-production unit in an old 160W case, what do you want to know?

It's replacing my busted 160, pretty much running the same setup with subjectively lower temp for about 3 months now. My 160 used to run quite warm.
