Hi, I see this awesome brick: Meanwell GST280A12

It's from a good brand and it has plenty of juice for me. However, I have yet to see a single review of the thing online. I was wondering if anyone has used it in conjunction with a pico psu, whether it is worth buying for 100 bucks, and how setup and use was?

I've seen a couple builds with it. Generally everything Meanwell has worked well for me. I use their HEP-320-12A now as a test powersupply and it kicks butt!

I own a GST220A20 with a R7B connector. It seems very good quality. I intend to use with the HD-plex 160w direct plug unit but I have to build a custom 4-pin din adaptor to make the connection between the brick and the HD-plex. Which PSU are you intending to use? you will need the pin assignment on the brick and psu to mod a connector unless you can find compatible parts.

I have heard similar things about other meanwell products, but I was wondering about this brick specifically, just to be sure I wasn't getting the one junk product from the meanwell stack. If others have been using it with success that's good news for me. Do you have any links to build logs?

I was planning to use a pico psu, and use the 4 pin eps style connector used by the pico, which adapts to the 4-pin din out of the box. I really like the secure but easy to remove eps connector compared to the stiff and difficult to remove 4-pin din. I have big hands and I always get scared I'm going to break something if I need to put strength behind unplugging things, and many miles connectors have suffered because of me unplugging them.

The pin out on the meanwell brick (GST220A20) does not match the one of the pico psu mini fit to 4-pin din adaptor. Take a look at the specs. V+ and V- are on different pins inside the R7B connector and that's why I am modding a custom adaptor ... please refer to my thread to read the issue I was having trying to power the system with the out of the box 4-pin din.

Thanks! I was planning to crimp the adapter myself. I will pay attention to your thread, because I can use the 4-pin din adapter if the custom cabling is easy/doable from your experience
