Big big news.

One one hand, it's great that EVGA has stood up for itself (as far as the, as Steve said, obviously controlled narrative has elucidated), but on the other, the market will easily fill in the gap with the other existing board partners.

The major issue I see, for us SFFr's, is the loss of a board partner who regularly had "ITX" spec cards in the lineup. Sigh :/

Ouch, but also so much respect for EVGA on this. Nvidia has such a terrible reputation as a hardware and/or software partner. Bummer that Intel Arc wasn't competitive. The GPU market needs some competition.

So following the 4090 launch and the 4080 12gb "unlaunch", its extremely easy to see why EVGA was upset. The 4090 FE is basically one of the (if not the) best version of the card, the most compact, has full 600watt power limit, and is getting lots of praise. How was EVGA suppose to compete with Nvidia themselves at a decent price point?

Also, Nvidia has actively ensured the AIB cards cannot really compete, beyond just the sheer performance. There's basically no overclocking the 4090 GPU as it is voltage-limited before it is power-limited; and the voltage is locked. The coolers are overkill....so what could the KingPin card even do?

Which leaves AIBs with nothing but gimmicks and jokes:

this - what will a 1000W power-limit BIOS do with this gen LOL

last gen 3000-series, the pecking order was HOF/Kingpin > Strix > FE; now with 4090, FE > Strix. Good guy Jensen!
