Hello,

(be kind, English is not my mother tong)

As the tittle said, I will make my first attempt in the SFF world. Lurking here and there for weeks now, I ‘ve decided to pull the trigger.
Until now, I was waiting following parts:
  • Ghost S1 (April or so - http://www.louqe.com). I am waiting a used Corsair 250D to exercise me until then
  • AsRock X370 (mainly for the WIFI and audio card)
  • Ryzen 1700X (was cheaper than the 1700 and I want to try something else than Intel)
  • SF 600
  • Fractal Design S24 (first build of water cooled system also, for the fun)
  • 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
I got a few spares of SDD (SATA and/or m.2).
I still must decide about the GPU.
Current compnents:

For the full picture, I’m building a brand-new cinema/gaming/working office/music/family room.
So just went for:
  • Epson 3700/tw6700 projector (1080p)
  • Speaker: PYLON Audio Diamond 28 (sounds great for the price!)
  • Amplifier: Cambridge Audio CXA 60

All this stuff will fill in my living room.
I’m very excited (to say the least).
I want all this beautiful, quit and performant!
I will keep you inform if you are interested (and I guess you will as there will not a lot of people having the Ghost in April ).
I plan to buy also a good (gaming/working) monitor (1440p, Eizo Foris?) and maybe some custom cable.
But now, it’s question time… So, I still need to choose a GPU. It should be quit and powerful (1070/ti, 1080/ti). I’ve read about, but can’t find the sweet spot (quit and powerful, 1080 I guess).
Have you any recommendations (air/water cooled – as a backer I can chose whatever so called topHat if I want to cheat a bit )?

If you want to suggest other components that the chosen one, do not hesitate!

Kr,

V.

Hi, I think a 1080 like the 1080 strix would be an ideal gpu as its a good dual slot.

I am also proud to say that I am also a backer of the Ghost.

All though I plan to do a custom loop with a 1080ti FTW3 and a 8700k.

Glad to meet a another proud backer of the Ghost!
Hope you will share your custom loop build.

Parts are arriving :-)
I should be able to make a first (temp) setup this week-end :-)

So, delivery goes smoothly (or almost)
Still Waiting mine NH-L12 and not yet decided about SDD form (SATA or NVMe), but 've already received this:

Audio Caps are twisted on the MoBo
(see pics). Not sure if it is really bad or not (nor how to test it).
Finally, I go for a Strix 1080 -A8G (thanks for the recommendation).
This week-end, I will give a first attempt with my temporary 250D.

So, I receive all the parts and of course couldn't wait to set up all these together.
But, ...
I got desperately 'no signal' on my monitor...
I tried all the obvious:
  • two set of RAM, one set (each set) in all ports
  • with or without GPU
  • CMOS reset
  • with or without win10 preinstalled on the SSD
  • all hdmi ports (on MB and on GPU)

Now, I am lost and don't have any clue on what to do...
Power is on (fan spin and led shines).
Power switch wake up the monitor but always no signal...
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Do you have a motherboard speaker to check for post codes?

Have you pulled the CPU and checked for bent pins on the motherboard?

Kr,

Also backed this case, and lol, I currently have that Asrock x370 board (for the audio and wifi too) paired with a 1700x also. Stable overclock to 3.9mhz. Will be RAM run at the quoted speed? I'm using a 16GB (2x8) Patriot Viper 4, as these run at the XMP 3200mhz mode straight out of the box on this motherboard. They are also red and black like the board.

I already have an NZXT x52, a 500gb ssd and one 3.3" HDD. Planning to use a medium tophat at the bottom of the case for the HDD and the larger tophat for the AIO.
