Hello friends, I'm thinking of building a small full HD gaming PC to install on my TV to use in my living room. I saw a YouTube video where a person used a Dell Optiplex 7060 SFF (core i7 8700) and a RTX 4060 LP and a very small PSU.

I'm thinking of doing the same but using a Dell Optiplex 7080 SFF (core i7 10700). But before that I'd like to listen to other ideas, like another kind of PCs like HP or Lenovo, the smallest the better but without compromising performance and temperatures.

I assume you only wish to modify an existing OEM system? Asrock and ASUS have some small systems but if you're on a budget you'll probably have the best luck with a used Dell, Lenovo and HP. Make sure to look up reference images and motherboard manuals before you buy. Don't want to be surprised by something propriety ruining your plans.

Also keep in mind, you might have to supply additional power to your GPU if the included system PSU it's enough. As will likely be the case the smaller you go.

Good luck with your project!

I did it with HP EliteDesk 800 G4, yes i7 8700 and 4060.
I did not use any extra PSU, although a man on HP forums has a spreadsheet for PSU upgrades. I just made a Y extension with 6+2 Pin on one side and the Motherboard power closest to the PSU on the other side. I think I re-pinned a 4 to 8 pin ATX motherboard cable for the wires. I popped out the drive cages and used Zip ties to hold front panel on 😆. They come out with some kind of clips; I can't remember details.

But hey, maybe cheap. Yes, cheap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335620866119
