Hey!
I think Palit's passively cooled 1050 is a really awesome idea, but I can't seem to find it available anywhere within the US. I'm going to be building a HTPC and I would like for it to be as-silent-as possible, so I'm wondering if there are any similar passive cooling solutions that I might be able to find aftermarket.
Another mark against the Palit offering is that I'd really like to be able to throw a 1060 or a 480 into my HTPC, which the 1050 is not. So, in terms of thermals, that's kind of what I'm looking at. I definitely could settle for a 1050 if it's the only modern card that can feasibly be passively cooled.
All that said, I can live with a no-GPU system as I will have a gaming computer to in-home-stream from. It just benefits to have a second computer that can play games in case I have a friend over and we want to play games that don't have local co-op together. Or if I want to emulate on the HTPC, since it's kind of clunky to set up emulators on steam in-home streaming--I don't know if you've ever tried.
