Cybenetics has introduced an electrical efficiency and fan noise certification for what appears to be specifically a computer PSU certification that's meant to go beyond the Ecova 80 Plus certification.

I just hope they don't sell ratings that aren't warranted like Ecova apparently does.

They'd have to be independently funded for them to be free of potential bribery from PSU manufacturers. I believe PSU companies pay for these tests too though.

Overall I'm hopeful though, I think the more stringent testing is good for the industry. Though the mediocre units that really needed tested won't ever be submitted.

In the beginning when 80 Plus started gaining traction, there was also a phase where most PSUs didn't have the certification, but as soon as a few brands started pioneering them and reviewers could show the difference, it started to snowball into the now "mandatory" spec enthusiasts look out for.

As long as there are people trying to spare on quality, there will always be a company that'll sell you a low quality product.

I don't think the "A+" and "A++" designations are helpful. Letter grades are confusing enough for school-age children (and their parents). Should probably be designated as "Performance Tiers" or similar.
