SFF Network’s COMPUTEX 2018 coverage is sponsored by SilverStone, who’s celebrating 15 years of innovation in SFF and beyond. Click here to check out their website and to learn more about their latest products. Walking through the hectic show halls of Computex 2018 towards another meeting, we spied something a little different from the traditionally server focused Supermicro. A consumer orientated M-ITX board? Let’s have a look! Not a bad showing at all from a company that doesn’t traditionally cater to the consumer market. It seems Supermicro has taken their (immense) server expertise and translated it into a retail motherboard …

Click here to check out their website and to learn more about their latest products. We were invited to an exclusive viewing of Streacom’s DA2 chassis at Computex 2018. Taking hints from the SFF world, Streacom has produced a chassis that quite possibly will fill the needs of many, all whilst retaining Streacom’s attention to detail and QC. We previewed this chassis a few weeks back, but we got to check out some of the finer aspects of this product in …

Click here to check out their website and to learn more about their latest products. Rushing through the halls of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre between meetings, we discovered MSI had their products on show, as expected. Let’s see what they had to show us! First up, MSI’s Z370i Gaming Pro Carbon AC (can we suggest a word limit to product names? Please?). This Coffee Lake board features the usual assortment of ports, but in MSI’s own style. We do appreciate …

SFF Network’s COMPUTEX 2018 coverage is sponsored by SilverStone, who’s celebrating 15 years of innovation in SFF and beyond. Click here to check out their website and to learn more about their latest products. BIOSTAR, rather the underdog in the Western PC components market, didn’t have much of interest to us SFF’rs this year, so we just shot through the booth, grabbing a couple of quick snaps. Here goes! BIOSTAR’s Racing NUC-a-like was on display. This little box features about the same processor, RAM and storage as my $200 laptop. Eep! All joking aside, this little racer has some OK …

Recently, there has been a teaser thread posted in the forum by PlayfulPhoenix (Joshua) regarding a new Chimera product, which would be the first new addition to the Chimera Industries product portfolio beyond the Cerberus. Interest was high, with people trying to figure out what this product was, how small it was, and the like. During Computex 2018, SFF Network was granted exclusive first access to the …

AMD’s Vega Nano at Computex 2018

At long last. The Vega Nano, promised last year at AMD’s Capsaicin event, has arrived, albeit not in the form we originally saw. PowerColor, a brand known for their unique take on graphics cards, has taken AMD’s lead and created a production version of the Vega 56 Nano card! At today’s AMD press event, we were treated to an exclusive look at the card, where I held the card on display. I’m not always driven to silence by a product but here was one that did so. Let’s have a closer look. Out of reach? Maybe not! Closer. There it …

Raijintek at Computex 2018

Raijintek, a smaller company, popped up on our radar as we wandered the halls of Nangang Exhibition Centre in Taipei. Small cases.. slim radiators.. value oriented water blocks? We decided to take a deeper look, and here’s what we found! Two SFF cases caught our eye. Tempered glass and RGB abound of course, but the designs are clean and understated. Using Li-Heat risers, these relatively small cases are designed with aesthetics firmly in mind. That’s a 25mm thick, 360 AIO cooler. Li-Heat and Raijintek have been working together on products such as this right angle GPU mounting solution. A 25mm …

Noctua at Computex 2018

Noctua, purveyors of fine cooling wares, had their booth, resplendent in copper and cream, at Computex 2018. We popped in for a visit, and did not regret the time spent there, discussing cooling with Jakob, Noctua’s marketing whiz. On show, the usual components, however, spiced up with some major changes, some of which stunned even us, seasoned industry veterans. Let’s see what was on display! Firstly, an oddity. What started as a personal project of a Noctua engineer, has become a probable product – a desk fan based on a NF-A12x25 fan, but with the addition of an “Airflow Amplification …

ASRock Shares Details of First Foray into Graphics Cards!

With the SFF Network crew on-location at Computex 2018, one of the first booths we’ve visited is that of ASRock, a company we’ve covered and reviewed at length for their work in the realm of motherboards and pre-built systems. Well known for their mITX and (lately) STX boards in particular, ASRock recently announced their intent to expand into GPUs by launching a broad series of AMD-powered graphics cards, which is a first for the company. ASRock has dubbed their entire series of graphics cards the “Phantom Gaming” line, with aggressive aesthetics and cooling to match. Interestingly, although there is not …

ASRock DeskMini at Computex 2018

ASRock’s DeskMini line, the proponent of the STX and Micro-STX form factors, is undergoing a tonne more development. More layouts, new chipsets, and overall, a determined promise from the manufacturer to continue the STX family of form factors, something we are wholeheartedly behind. Lets see what ASRock had on display. Wait wait wait.. is that sign promising XL and Slim variants of the DeskMini? But first, ASRock has great taste in CPU cooling. Well, this looks a little different. ASRock has taken the original DeskMini chassis, cut off a significant portion of the base (where the 2.5″ drives used to …
