ASRock Working on Intel’s New A380 GPU

Intel’s new Arc family of graphics cards has a mainstream board partner, in the shape of ASRock. Excitingly for us, and belying the “A380” moniker (plane nerds know what I’m talking about), it’s an “ITX” spec GPU in the shape of a Challenger branded card. The board features a single 8 pin power connector, which is interesting considering the Intel rated 75w TDP. This is likely a mid-process prototype still. Looking at the solid aluminium heatsink, it seems that this card will either run cool, or loud. Place your bets now! From early benchmarks, the A380 looks to lag behind …

GPU Review: MSI RTX 3060Ti Aero ITX OC LHR

Note: The conclusion of this video card has been updated due to increased availability as of 7-27-2022.   The MSI RTX 3060Ti Aero ITX 8G OC LHR (Aero 3060Ti for short) is a one-of-a-kind video card. It’s currently the only single fan RTX 3060Ti on the market, and the only 3060ti designed to fit ultra-compact ITX cases. The card’s length is a mere 172mm. The next smallest 3060Ti is the EVGA RTX 3060 TI XC Gaming, and is nearly 3cm longer at 201.8mm long. Three centimeters may not sound like much, but in the small form factor world it’s …

ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2060 Twin Fan Review

We would like to thank ZOTAC for providing us with a review sample of their ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2060 Twin Fan while attending CES. Without their on the spot generosity, this graphics card review would not be possible. With CES 2019 behind us and having just recently reviewed ZOTAC’s GeForce RTX 2070 Mini, we’re very pleased to get our hands on the new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2060 Twin Fan. In our RTX 2070 Mini review, we reported that the $530 card was a far better price:performance option than the $1200 RTX 2080 TI (reviewed here) and while it was true then, it’s …

ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2070 Mini Review

We would like to thank ZOTAC for providing us with a review sample of their ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2070 Mini. Without their generosity, this graphics card review would not be possible. Fresh off the heels of our NVIDIA 2080 Ti review, ZOTAC has provided us with their ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2070 Mini. This GPU is perfect for those who don’t need as much horsepower, are using something like an HDPlex PSU, desire a short(er) length GPU, or perhaps want to buy something with a much better price to performance ratio. Below are a few resources that ZOTAC was kind enough to provide for …

AMD and Co Love PC!

For the first time, SFFN had direct access to an AMD press conference, instead of hoping that our feeble home internet connections (well, apart from myself with 100/30 fibre – take that, US-based staff!) could cope with streaming their live event. Joshua, Craig and I were on-location yesterday at the event, which was held at the Westin Taipei hotel in Taipei during Computex 2017. Eagerly waiting for news on a Vega Nano, Ryzen APUs and ThreadRipper, we planted ourselves in the crowd and noted the following from Lisa Su (AMD’s CEO) and her team. First up was a happy birthday of sorts …

AMD Announces the Radeon RX 480: 5 TFLOPS and 4GB for $199

AMD’s event may have been thin on details for some of their upcoming technologies (as the author gives some longing side-eye to Zen), but there was at least one segment that had some tangible information, and some welcome brashness and boldness to boot: the announcement of the Radeon RX 480, a graphics card set to launch on June 29th that utilizes the first Polaris-based high-performance GPU. Throughout AMD’s Computex presentation, the various speakers seemed to endlessly repeat the value proposition AMD’s various CPU and GPU technologies meant to the lower price segments of the graphics and portable industries – segments, they’d mention, that are …

Gigabyte R7-360 – Mid-Range Miniature

With the current trend towards ‘ITX-ing’ graphics cards, I thought I would have a look at a current generation card – the Gigabyte GV-R736OC-2GD. This card features the AMD R7-360 GPU, with 2GB of GDDR5 and a dual-slot, full height, form factor. A little history of the R7-360 This card features the ‘Tobago’ core – also known as the ‘Bonaire Pro’ – a derivative of the Bonaire core first featured, in ‘XT’ form, in the HD7790 from early 2013. The core is based on Graphics Core Next (GCN) 1.1 architecture, which we will detail later on. Later in 2013, AMD launched the …
