Reviews of the Mobile/Laptop variant of the RTX 4080 have begun to pop up. This chip features the same name but vastly different specs than the RTX 4080 desktop variant. That said, Jarrod’s Tech showed that the mobile 4080 outperformed the mobile RTX 3080Ti by an average of 26% at 4K providing it’s fed by a powerful CPU.
Actual frame rate examples are pretty impressive. Per Jarrod’s Tech you’re looking at an average of 87 FPS in Spiderman Remastered Very High Settings at 4K, and an average of 76 FPS for Cyberpunk at 1440P at Ultra Settings. Not bad at all.
As SFF enthusiasts, it’s good to keep an eye on these mobile chips as they can be clues as to the performance level of prebuilt SFF machines, as well as a very rough reference to the speed of possible desktop parts in the same wattage. Emphasis on the “rough estimate” portion.
