Intel Greenlow Platform Launched

Intel has officially launched the Greenlow platform – Xeon E3-1200 v5 series processors and the C230 series chipset. The new Xeon E3 v5 CPUs are powered by the Intel Skylake microarchitecture, and feature improved per-clock performance, higher clock rates, support for DDR4 memory and more powerful P530 graphics on selected lines.

The E3-1200 v5 series consists of 11 models, including 5 standard-power (80 Watt) models without integrated GPU, 3 models with IGP and 3 low power processors. All microprocessors have 4 cores, 8 MB of L3 cache, and support AES, AVX2 and TSX instructions. The CPUs also support Turbo Boost technology, VT-x/VT-d virtualization, Trusted Execution.

Models

The Xeon E3-1220 v5 is an entry-level model with 3 GHz operating frequency, 3.5 GHz Turbo Boost and no Hyper-Threading. An official price of this part is $193.

At $213, the E3-1225 v5 processor has a higher 3.3 GHz base and 3.7 GHz turbo frequencies, and it adds an integrated P530 GPU, clocked at 350 MHz.
Higher up in the range, between $250 and $612 MSRP, the Xeon E3-1230 v5, E3-1240 v5, E3-1270 v5 and E3-1280 v5 are clocked from 3.4 GHz to 3.7 GHz, and their maximum Turbo frequencies range from 3.8 GHz to 4 GHz.

The E3-1245 v5 and E3-1275 v5 are similar to the E3-1240 v5 and E3-1270 v5 SKUs, except that they have the P530 GPU enabled. Expect to pay $11 – $12 to have the IGP option.
The low-power E3-1235L v5 and E3-1240L v5 CPUs are rated at a 25 Watt TDP, and have relatively low 2 GHz and 2.1 GHz base frequencies.

The E3-1235L v5 does not support Hyper-Threading technology, but integrates P530 graphics. Running at 2.9 GHz, the E3-1260L v5 should be a fair bit faster than the E3-1235L v5 and E3-1240L v5, however its TDP is almost twice as high.
