TFX – the power supply form factor that refuses to die – gets a new home, in the form of Chieftec’s new UNI Series BE-10W-300. This low profile orientated case includes impressive front IO, but a typical interior configuration.
The “classic” design of the interior supports the aforementioned TFX power supply, which is included in the package. This is a 300W 80 Plus Bronze unit branded by Chieftec themselves – I’m guessing this is a Seasonic unit inside. The chassis itself is made from 0.6mm SGCC steel with a white coating. A white plastic front panel finishes out the aesthetics.
At 9L, this is around the typical volume for this style of chassis. M-ATX motherboards are the largest boards supported, with space for 4 low profile expansion cards. The CPU cooler is limited to 50mm high. Cooling is complemented by the included 80mm fan of unknown provenance.
For those still using optical media, room for an ultra slim 5.25″ optical drive is provided. For more modern storage options, there is space for one each of a 2.5″ and 3.5″ drive.
For me, the most notable feature for the UNI Series BE-10W-300 is the generous complement of front panel IO – being a pair of USB3.2 Gen 1 ports, a pair of USB2.0 ports, and a pair of 3.5mm ports for audio – audio out, and mic in.
Sadly, for a chassis that includes the power supply, only a 24 month warranty is specified. No pricing was provided with the press release at launch, however a quick Google shows the black variant of this case at around US$145 on Amazon UK.
