So Asus is launching a 33 liter totally-not-sff case called the Asus Prime AP201. It has a nearly completely mesh case design, and is focused around MATX motherboards. The case supports 360mm AIOs, GPUs up to 338mm long, and has a traditional build style.

…but this isn’t why this is good news.

The reason why this is good news is that Asus is investing in a premium or semi-premium MATX case. That’s enthusiast oriented products, which means we might just start to see some enthusiast class MATX motherboards. Perhaps a return to the legendary Gene line of boards? Let’s hope so. The MATX market offers a lot of opportunity for SFF builds but has become the home for budget boards that are few and far between.
