Hey guys! Will it leak if I put a 1/4" ID soft tube onto a 1/4" OD straight copper tube, and clamp it down with a hose clamp?
I need to do some modification to my radiator, which involves in cutting off the barbed part of the included fittings:

They are way too tall so they need to come off :( I'm not sure if clamping the tubbing down is good enough thou.

The rad is only 105x41mm in size so why wound the (15mm) high fittings fit... with soft-tubes you cant do a 90, it would kink.

The rad is 40mm thick and the fittings are 20mm tall... I have no idea why they make such tall fittings and I need to fit this rad into a 60mm space :/
PS. By using tygon tubing and anti-kink coil you can achieve extremely tight turns

There is this oldschool block from Thermaltake, which hasn't any barbs. Not reported to leak whatsoever.

To be sure : you could hack them off, remove some length from the base then ask your plumber to solder them back on :)

Thanks for the info! I tried to ask a plumber to see if they can make it shorter and solder a barbed fitting on but they said they can't do it because it is way to small :(
