Recently posted on reddit as well. Finally almost finished. Its been a wild ride making it all work.

The intent of the build was to maximize airflow, minimize noise, and hide all the cables in an all black no RGB theme. The Memory, Riser cable, and GPU copper block are ruining the party.

Part List

  • FormD T1 1.1 + Top Panel Mod
  • ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming ITX/TB3 + Flipped Chipset Cooler Mod vs Stock
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 CL16
  • 1 TB WD SN750
  • Corsair SF750 80+ Platinum + NF-A9x14 chromax + Custom Cables
  • Gigabyte 3080 w/Aorus Gaming Box pump/block [ Pics 1 / Pics 2 ]
  • Scythe Big Shuriken 3 + NF-A12x15 chromax
  • XSPC 240 Slim Radiator + 1 x NF-A12x15 chromax + 1 x Phanteks T30 + 3D printed bracket
  • LOUQE Cobalt PCI-e 4.0 Riser Cable
  • J-HACK M2426

List of Mods

GPU
  • Gelid thermal pads - 2.5mm on the VRAM and 1mm everywhere else
  • Customish loop - here are general instructions [Vid 1 / Vid 2]
  • Here is a parts list for re-tubbing the GPU to a new radiator [Tubing / Clamps / Coolant]
  • This card does not come with an IO plate. It needs to be ordered separately from Gigabyte. You need the IO plate from either the Gaming OC or Vision OC cards. YMMV as Gigabyte support is not great.
  • You need this Fan Adapter to use normal PWM fans with the GPU
Mother Board
  • The chipset heatsink conflicts with the Big Shuriken 3, however it fits perfectly if you flip the chipset cooler and remove the heatpipe between the chipset heatsink and the VRM heatsink. I didn't see any impacts to thermals in doing this.
FormD T1 v1.1
  • The xspc tx240 is slightly too wide and cannot sit flush with the top panel as it conflicts with the side panel retention clips. The solution was to have the clips precisely machined off. Cost me $40 at a local metal machining shop. Top Panel Mod
  • If you do not want to mod the T1 and still want to have a push setup with the radiator buy the Barrow Dabel -20b
PSU

Fun Stuff

Fan Setup Comparisons

2 NF-A12x15 chromax in pull + 1 Noctua NF-A12x25 in push
VS
1 NF-A12x15 chromax in push + 1 Phanteks T30 in push

I could not find a measurable difference in thermals but the noise difference is massive. The 3 fan setup creates turbulence noise on the upper slim fan that can't easily be mitigated. The 2 fan setup is optimal from my perspective. I used the 2000 RPM mode on the Phanteks

Thermals - Ambient Temp @ 21C

  • Idle CPU (Tctl/Tdie) - 31C
  • Idle GPU - 26C Core and 34C Memory
Closed Case - Ambient temp @ 21C with stock fan curves
  • Time Spy loop for about 30 minutes - score around 14700
  • CPU peaked at 68C and evened out to just over 66C
  • CPU peaked at 67C in prime 95 for 30 minutes
  • GPU peaked at 64C and 80C on Memory
Closed Case - Ambient temp @ 21C with stock CPU fan curve and 100% GPU fans
  • Time Spy loop for about 30 minutes - score around 14700
  • CPU peaked at 66C and evened out to just under 64C
  • CPU peaked at 65C in prime 95 for 30 minutes
  • GPU peaked at 58C and 78C on Memory
Closed Case - Mining GPU +1500 mem / -150 core / 76 PL / 75% Fans @ 102mh
  • Core - 46C
  • Mem Junction - 90C
  • Power Consumption - 243W
