I have an i5-5675c and was planning to use the shuttle with h97. Unfortunently it does not support broadwell. Should have made sure before purchase. Anyway do you guys have any tips for something simular? Was thinking about using a Hdplex fanless case with a used minitx board. Any other ideas? If you know something thats out of production I can try to find it used.

Regards,

Joakim

Are you sure it doesn't support it? H97 was designed for broadwell, Haswell spent most of it's life on H87. No bios updates somewhere around mid-2015 reading 'added support for Intel's new CPUs'?

Shuttle do several form factors, so which one are you looking at specifically and in which way do you want something similar? If it's the classic shuttle cube case then something like Silverstone's Sugo series cases are similar in size and shape

Not listed and I also mailed and ask. :(

I was thinking about that size as shown in the link. Only about itx board, fan and 2.5 ssd. Considering how Hard it is to find good motherboards a barbone with socket would be great...

All the ones in the link are supported by BIOS 102, yet there's a BIOS 103 whose release notes read 'Add new CPU support".

And as far as I know the last non-broadwell LGA1150 CPUs were released were i3-4170 refresh which are on the list as being supported by BIOS 102.

It's certainly possible that the added support was just tweaks for the CPUs like the 4170 launched after the last BIOS update, but equally it's not uncommon for manufacturers to not update CPU support lists and for customer services to read off the website.

Yeah, it's new enough there's not much stuff being gotten rid of yet but old enough that the new stock is all sold out. Even the long term production boards mostly won't be an option as they're H81 based and you can't cannibalise a prebuilt as most of them went straight from Haswell to Skylake.

We've got AMD's Raven Ridge coming which should offer similar CPU & GPU power in a single chip but the latest guesses seem to be putting the desktop release as a low priority that we won't see until early 2018.

Indeed. I'll certainly try and repport back with my progress. If that dossent work and I get into market i'll make a buy request for a motherboard. Ryzen apu:s sound awesome, but cant wait for 2018. Ebay is maybe an alternative but they are not cheap... :)

You're pretty lucky getting an i5-5675c, I heard they were not made for long, and were expensive.

Looking at the Shuttle you listed, I'm sure any H97/Z97 ITX board would be fine in a similar 3.5L sized case, if you're not using a GPU and enabling all that IRIS goodness.

The Shuttle specs also seemed to indicate a 65W limit on the CPU - is the 5675c under that limit?

Maybe an Antec ISK 110 or similar??

Yes the i5 is at 65w. May get hot :) yes I was very happy to get my hands on it for a fair price. A guy on another forum had bought it new 6 months ago. Nice with warranty etc.

Anyways thank you very much for the info on the case. Thats pretty much exactly What I was looking for! Seems there is a whole class of mitx cases that havent seen before lol

Q is if I should go for a h97 or maybe z97 in case I need I slight downclock.

There are lots of options among normal mini-ITX cases if you can find a motherboard, I'd probably favour something like a Jou-Jye 528 or 568 instead of the Antec since it's got an internal PSU instead of a power brick.

More options is great, thank you very much. These cases are not especially common where I live. Thats porbably why I was clueless.
