There have been several rumors now that AMD will be releasing some new Zen 2 based CPUs on 7 July 2020. This would be on the 1 year anniversary of the release of the 3000 series CPUs.
Initially there was mention of a 3750X and 3850X, but it now looks like there may be 3 XF models.
Ryzen 5 3600XF to replace the 3600X
Ryzen 7 3800XF to replace the 3800X
Ryzen 9 3900XF to replace the 3900X
Core counts will remain the same for each SKU, but base and boost speeds are up 200 - 300MHz.
I’m hoping this turns out to be true as a 3800X would be perfect for my next build.
It also makes sense to replace the 3600X and 3800X in particular as these have offered the least value in the lineup, with the vanilla 3600 and 3700X being better buys in most cases.
There may also be price drops for the rest of the CPUs that are not getting refreshed. Win win!
