Got a HDPLEX 400W on order just making sure I've not lost the plot on this before I get a power brick and new case panels

Kit
Gigabyte Aorus B450
Ryzen 2400G (no overclock)
16Gb Aorus RGB DDR4
1Tb M.2
1Gb SSD
2X 140mm fans

Load wattage: 163 W
Recommended PSU wattage: 213 W

Adding back in a graphics card (RX570 If I need it)

Load wattage 285 W
Recommended PSU wattage 335 W

Just a sanity check I've actually done it right

Your kit load wattage witbout GPU seems a bit high.. My guestimate is about 120-130 watt.

Yeah I was trying to get my head around without. I was using the rule of thumb of TDP + 30% which gave basically 125W (123.5 but rounding up for ease) If it was just that I would lob in an 160 XT but I couldn't work out if I could get away using an eps 4 pin to 8 pin, I cant see why I couldn't just never sure.

Assuming 160 XT is a high quality PSU, it would be sufficient. However I never own or try to get more info about that one, so yeah.

You said you may add a GPU later. On gaming RX570 consumes around 160-170w, jumping to 200w on torture test.

With 400W HDPlex it means you have around 80-100w power buffer. Whether this is OK or not, may require answers from other members who are more qualified than me regarding power supply :)

Edit: since we're here let's summon one of the PSU gods @Kmpkt

Thanks, had a minor stumbling block but should be solveable, the 160 XT has an EPS 4 pin, the board requires 8pin, its still within the PSU capability so I'm assuming I'd just need a 4 pin to 8 pin adaptor?

Maybe I'm a bit confused, you said you had HDPLEX on order but you're asking about 160 XT cables? Like Pico PSU 160 XT? Those products are generally not compatible and I can't tell if you're comparing them or getting both.

I have it on order (awaiting stock) but it dawned on me a PICO "should" do the job due to the low power useage

Yeah 160xt will be fine for the PC without discrete GPU, and the adapter should do the job. Though you may find that your motherboard works just fine with the 4pin connector plugged into the 8 pin, with the other 4 pins unoccupied.
