Noctua U9S with 2x92mm fans enough for 9700K?

Hey all,

Upgrading my system to use a 9700K and a better air cooler, but only have about 130mm of cooler clearance I think, and unsure if I go with a U9s with dual fans, or if I get a BeQuiet! Dark Rock TF and run with a single fan in the event the dual fan setup does not fit.

Would a single fan Dark Rock TF perform better than a U9S for cooling a 9700K?

Thoughts appreciated, would also be happy to accept any of solutions in that size range.

Perhaps you first find out exactly what the clearance is. 130mm is a critical figure. Dark Rock TF is at 130.8.
And, if you do have 130 or more but not 129 or less, then a good candidate is Thermalright Silver Arrow 130. It is right at this critical height of 130mm. At its current version, it should perform much better than U9S/D9L. Here is one example of SA130 vs D9L on a 7820x system (https://www.chiphell.com/thread-1937360-1-1.html).

As about SA130 on cooling a 9700K, a guy tried it here. (https://www.hkepc.com/forum/viewthread.php?fid=127&tid=2472754&page=1), highest temp from Cinebench R15 is 70-73C (idle 24-28C).

Yet another candidate is Alpenfohn Atlas which 125mm tall. But this cooler is harder to find outside of Europe. But then again, SA130 is also available from China, at the moment.

Thanks! It's a custom chassis still being designed but I am going to request the case be designed with 135mm of CPU cooler clearance.

A megatest I found here has the U9S beating the Dark Rock TF, which is contrary to what I have read elsewhere.
