Hello all!!

This will be my first ITX build and Im very excited to be able to take this little guy wherever I go.

Focus of this machine is design and productivity. So lot's of rendering, photoshop, real-time engines, 3d modeling. Couple of softwares running at the same time and possibly a bit of content consumption and light gaming.

Here's the part list:

The only difference is the GPU which will be a 2060 Super.
Case: M1
MOBO bios update will try to go to repair shop or contact AMD for kit.
2 noctuas pulling air from the bottom into GPU
2 noctuas replacing the stock radiator fans.

What do you guys say? Rock solid?

You also posted this on sffpc right?

1. You can easily use the Sf450 for this build. Or you can use the SF600 instead. Unless for some reason the sf750 is super cheap locally those two psu are better.

2. I would not go with Nvidia version for gpu. They are terrible to service.

3. I would go for a small tower cooler like the U9S or a good top down like the noctua C14S. The 240 rad would work a bit better but for the cost of fans and the 240 rad, you can probably just buy a 3900x and cheap cooler like sycthe Choten and get better performance.

4. I would leave out the noctua fans. The 2060 is fairly low on the power requirement so you may not need them at all. The A12x25 is great but they are very expensive.

0. YES I did, anxiety to get this build ready is killing me now ?

1. The SF750 is only $10 more expensive then the SF600 here. Future proofing and newer product seem like nice to haves for that amount.

2. Didnt consider that but now I already ordered the FE. I wanted the usb-c virtuallink port, it was either the FE or the EVGA. But EVGA is $60 more expensive and I liked the looks of the FE so..as long as it arrives okay I will pray it continues like that.

3. I see, im definitely not set on that but here Im considering 3 things: 1- transporting the build locally with the U9S and the strain that might cause to the motherboard and 2- according to optimum the temperatures are drastically lower which would enable a higher OC potential vs the noctua. 3- The 3900x + air cooler would cost me $80 vs the 3700x + AIO.

Any other thoughts on this?

4. Wait so no intake fans at all at the bottom only and put them somewhere else or no case fans at all? If I go AIO that would be considered intake but with the U9S thats would mean no intake at all.

Yes it'll run "hotter" and boost lower, but more slower cores will beat out fewer fast cores when it comes to multithread stuff.

The 3700x is very close to its limits out of the box. And OC will give you more performance but not what people expect like from Intel cpu, and you drastically hit higher power consumption. For $80 more you get 40-50% more performance on multithread tasks like cpu rendering. Heck, even the stock cooler is pretty solid and can get respectable performance.

Moving the PC is a valid concern if you do it often, and in situations where you don't have the best control over how it is moved.

For the gpu it is fine. The service is usually only done once a year, and a complete teardown every 2 year or so. I would blast the dust it a bit more often so it doesn't settle and you have to deal with cleaning it.

I usually recommend people to go without extra case fans first to see how they deal with the noise level. If it is bad then a case fan install is not difficult but we are often overzealous with our purchases, especially about 120 CAD worth of fans.

1- For the case fans, shouldnt the A12x25 be super silent? I'd love to save on fans but are you confident heat wont be a problem?

edit: oh I see your point, if I dont get the case fans the GPU and CPU cooler will run faster and louder, right? I'm definitely sensitive to sound. I guess I'll just have to pick up at least 2 case fans, either 2 bottom or 1 bottom and 1 side?

2- I like how you put that, it definitely is a huge performance boost that makes me want to go with the 3900x. I didnt know about the OC part.
But now I'm not sure what to do about moving my case around with the U9S. I'll probably move it 1-2 times a week, inside my backpack, walking/metro.
Should I contact noctua to see what they say? Or maybe reports of people with the U9S and ITX boards that also move their cases?

3- I've noticed a lot of the RAMs pcpartpicker gives us as options are not officially compatible with AMD. What can I expect from that?

Just get gskill for amd. The compatibility is a wash because they only test a handful of ram kits at launch and never do more.

I say don't buy the fans unless you determine you need them. There really no negative about saving money, and then later on deciding you want some fans. They're easy to install. It's not like you HAVE to have them when you build.

U9S is fairly light. Shouldn't be a problem moving them. It is a problem if you're shipping it or something.

Gotcha, but just to make sure I got it, the logic is by adding more fans I should be getting a less noisy experience?

Yes. Usually people add two on the bottom. The quietest experience is getting a 2.5 slot gpu, remove the shroud and using full size fans instead. Though, not all gpu coolers can do this.
