Having a tough time finding any information on anybody pushing the HDPLEX past its 250W rating.

Let's say it's mounted vertically with the connectors on the bottom so that the heat sink has a free air flow path to the top of the case. And let's say about 1.5-2" of a case fan's edge is positioned over the heat sink with no obstructions.

Could a system pulling 284W according to PCpartpicker run stable under load with this set up?

@dondan has tested up to 400W on it with active cooling.
I've had it run a 300W setup for more then 6 months.

@Josh | NFC has had good succes with it above 250W.

But more importantly. what components does you pcpartpicker system consist off?

I see no real problem with that setup.

My own experience has been running a GTX970 with a 4670 without any problems.
But if you want to be a little bit safer you could also go with a 6700S or T version, but I see no reason why you'd have to.

I don't like offering advice on something that could cause damage to your system...or house for that matter, but I personally would not even bat an eye at 285w on the HDPLEX for 24/7/365.
