I though this was pretty neat. Testing the new Alpha SBC with a m.2 to PCIe x4 adapter, putting a GT 1030 to supplement the CPU's onboard graphics. They should definitely try the 1060 next. Too bad about the cost, though...

An update from the video uploader: Running a low profile 1050 Ti with the Alpha. The m3 CPU certainly seems to hold up with the games that are tested. Keeping in mind the CPU only uses 5 watts!

That's only a x1 connection, though, right? If it's only meant for mining, wouldn't x1 bandwidth bottleneck gaming performance in mid-range and high-end cards?
Yeah it probably would. I was just more thinking it'd be a fun thing to do for shits and giggles.
I believe x1 does hit performance, but isn't a killer.

I'd guess gaming on 3.0 x1 is between 2.0 x1 and 2.0 x4 and will be about 80-90% the performance of a 3.0 x16 connection.

I think the 1030 will be hit less than an 1080... edit: nevermind again, I thought you linked the techpowerup analysis where they did the 1080 I didn't know they did it with such an old card too. It's interesting how the 1030 which is not even a GTX card is now equivalent to such a high end card from only four years ago... 30W to 188W even if Radeon of course always consumed more.
Hi i did a new project on lattepanda alpha, i setup an eGPU + a NVME SSD at sme time. This is faster because os and games are directly installed on the SSD. See results in my video:
