SFF.Network Cooler Master Announces 1100 and 1300 Watt SFX Platinum PSUs

Cooler Master must be in a mood because they have bombarded the SFF market with products lately with each being more interesting than the last. This time it's two new SFX power supplies pushing an unheard of 1100 and 1300 watts respectively. Part of the their V line of power supplies, both feature 80 Plus Platinum certification, as well as a 92mm fan. Both units also support the the new PCI-e Gen 5.0 power standard, as well as include three PCI-e 6+2 connectors for six 8-pin connections to power hungry GPUs. Cooler Master is also back each unit with a 10 year warranty.

both the v1300 sfx and sfx-l appear to only be capable of 1300w with a 200-240v input. i wonder how much they derate at 100-120v input.

Not an electronics engineer but I would guess they won't work on 100-120v at all. The 1100W would draw up to 14A out of the wall socket at that voltage, meaning 1300W would go over 16A and I would guess that's beyond most US/UK domestic fuses. I'm having a hard time thinking of a use case for 1100W in an SFF case though, let alone 1300W. To think I bought an 800W SFX-L many years ago to power dual high-end GPUs.

not that those charts are gauranteed accurate but they do have the ac input at 100-240v for the 1300w. it would be very funny if the 1300w derated to 1100w at the 100-120v range. i keep putting evga sfx 650s in builds snd i haven't even needed a 750 yet. i think these 850w units are already more than enough for any build under 15 liters.

I had my first build I needed more than 650 in a while; 12900K with a RTX 3080. I have both overclocked and man can they drink power. 300 Watts for the CPU at full spec, and 350 to 370 watts for the GPU. I put the Silverstone SX1000 in it which is a great PSU. Very quiet at up to about 200 watts. Then I get some capacitor noise, but the fan stays quiet. I hope these new units don't have that capacitor whine.

As for why get an overrated PSU, it's as simple as this: Many PSUs have a percentage power capacity that they start to ramp the fan at. Generally the fan ramps at 20% to 30%. Providing the PSU is built well, you can avoid noise by not having that fan ramp because you have excess capacity.

People have been having issues with systems with 3080s and 3090s, at stock, tripping 750W PSUs. The transient loads on the high end cards these days are nuts.

transients are always a problem. i remember the r9 nano tripping a 750w psu i had. looks like it's probably gonna be worse with next gen.

God I hope these derate if you are only using 120v otherwise you might burn your house down if it's a older building.

But seriously what the heck here in the states your gonna eventually need to run 240v circuit just for your office with how electrically inefficient these new pc parts are getting

Well 'very old'. Circuit breakers have been standard for 50 years. And that has been 15A service per circuit for I don't know how long--which deals with 1300W fine....so long as you don't have a Mike Holmes electrical nightmare house

yeah... I don't trust my 1986 wiring in my place an they had to have a electrician expand the breaker box and put to code before I bought the place....

I've been to sites on my job where outlets are showing signs of melting cause people plug 4 chromebook carts into a surge protector then into the wall... thats 64 65watt chargers @-@!

Also.... god I hate to imagine the heat inside a 15L case that needs 1300 watts

Just use all fans as side panels, easy !

Seriously, a 1100-1300W 80+ Platinum generally good efficiency that it can be used to power a 400W full load system without even turning on the PSU fan. It might even be able to survive an OC'ed RTX 4090. If anything, it shows you don't need an ATX PSU anymore, so case manufacturers can start phasing out support for it.

Hardware Busters did a review for each model V1100 and V1300. Note that the V1300 only delivers 1300W with 230V AC so NA is no good LOL

Surprisingly quiet but relative low overall performance compare to other 750-850W SFX offerings. Personally I think these land in a good place, people who want 250W+ CPU and 4080/4090 level GPU have what they need.

I bought this model V1300 for the 1300W - use case : SFF with 4090 and also being able to plug with a riser an additional 3090 or 4090 for rendering.
The PSU is very noisy as default - fan is spinning constantly and makes an unbearable noise. Defenetly I will return it. If somebody has some ideas for noise reductions would be great.
