Log [Build Log] SSUPD Meshlicious - 5900X/3080ti - Custom Loop

Hi All,

After quite a journey I recently finished my full custom loop build in the SSUPD Meshlicious so I thought I would share.

The goal was to test myself with a full custom loop SFF build with no compromise in performance.

Overall, I am very happy with the results! Water temp sits at ~35C (silent) during normal use and up to 50C max while gaming. The CPU will jump to ~70C at full load and the GPU will sit at around 60-65C while gaming. To achieve this the fans ramp up to ~1500rpm which is far from silent but not a problem while gaming with headphones.

I would NOT RECOMMEND anyone else try this unless they are up for a challenge. These components DO NOT FIT, I simply refused to give up and arrived that the following solution with the limited skills and tools available to me.

My previous build was almost 6 years old and in need of some love. The 5930k @4.5GHz and 2 x GTX980 still perform surprisingly well but it was too big to fit on the desk, hence the dust. Time for something new with a much smaller footprint.

I threw together a few rough mock-ups in CAD to decided on a case and plan the build. The Meshlicious was the winner.

I checked to see if a single 280mm radiator would be a total failure. In theory it should dissipate ~300W per 10deg of water temp (and it does).

I decided to 3D print my way out of the problem by rotating the PSU 90 degrees. It was never going to be elegant but I was comitted at this point.

At the time I was building this, the case did not ship with a PCIE4.0 riser cable so I sourced one seperatly. The GPU and riser was far too tall to fit in the case even with the end and top caps removed from the waterblock. It was time for a drill and rotary tool with a cutting disc. I shifted all of the mounting points 10mm toward the back of the case and cut a slot in the back. Not the most elegant solution but it worked!

Time to bend some tube. I decided to use some 1/2in Primochill PETG that I had leftover from my previous build. It's very easy to bend and cut. The primochill compression fittings work well.

Leak tested for 6 hours, all ok! It was surprising easy to fill but the fill port is in an awkward spot, paper towel required.

Wow, that looks amazing. I have a the same Suprim X 3080ti GPU arriving in the next few days and I was thinking of doing a build with this case. Nothing as elaborate as your build (although you may have inspired me to do so) but do you think the GPU would fit in the case as it is unmodifed?

The attention to the design on the psu backplate is very well done, in fact it blends in to looking like its meant to be there.
