Hi all experts ,
I want to build a max 80 wattage total power draw PC for 1080p30 casual gaming.
I am thinking of using RTX A2000 , Amd R5 7500F.
Can it be done ?
Can i just limit in bios like say, cpu power draw max = 35watts , and gpu power draw max = 45 watts?

Thanks in advance for all your expertise

You're probably better off going APU for 80Watts, the A2000 will draw 70W by itself.

Why are you chasing 80W as the limit?

Cause i live in tropical climate , so hot and humid . I cannot play my ps4 fat during day , which is about 120 watt , while my ps4 slim around 80 watt was totally chill. So i figured, if i want to play games in PC , 80 watt maybe 90 watt is the max threshold . I saw linus make 108 watts gaming PC using r5 3600x and 2060 6GB . Can i get 90 watt using R5 5500 and A2000 6GB ?

Is it because the hardware gets too hot?
Or because it adds too much heat to the room?

Different solutions :)

Gotcha - ok! Just wanted to check you weren't doing it for an arbitrary reason :)

Yes you definitely can power limit to about 80W maximum.

What games are you planning to play? I can do some tests on my A2000 for you, if you like.
Although mine has been shunt-modded so I'm not 100% sure I can limit it far enough to get down to 80W total, as I think afterburner will only go as low as 50% which for me is the full 70W

I'm thinking that you might actually find the 8000G APUs competitive in that power envelope and target resolution/fps/performance, even my 5600G does pretty well at 1080p for most games, even if I have to drop some of the visuals a bit. Hell, my laptop's chip (Ryzen 5625U) almost manages HellDivers2, even if it's not a great experience.

I'm not sure if you can limit it to 45W, but that would mean it will have very low frequency to maintain that limit. And maybe it is not even worth gaming at that speed. Also, the A2000 is an expensive option if you just gonna limit it to 45W. Consider other options like going for lower TDP GPUs as you will do less tweaking and they will be cheaper. For example, AMD RX 6400 has a TDP of 53W and you can find them around $100 used.

Another option is to build around the MINISFORUM BD770i which I believe has a peak TDP of 75W.
