    Q about recent HP laptops

Recently, many HP laptops have stopped using SODIMMs. The memory is soldered down to the board. The same is true for all of the tiny desktop PCs (especially ones with Strix Halo). My question is specific to HP laptops. It appears that HP built a lot of laptops with only 8MB of memory (yes...

Log Monochrome 2: My custom fanless 7.5 L Strix Halo system (completed)

I am almost "crazy" enough to build something like this for myself ! I would probably use a Strix Point motherboard so that I could use a 150W picoPSU and a maybe a Noctua NH-L9a

    Discussion nano-itx

To be more specific ... Unless you are a real "gammer" and are not willing to limit yourself to "onboard" GPU (i.e. you want a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot), it look like home built SFF is dying ! The pre-built SFF (approximately NUC/Apple size) are starting to appear with OCulink are going to be much...

    Discussion nano-itx

So with the next round of "mobile" processors coming out soon from AMD (Strix Halo, AMD Ryzen™ Al Max+ 395), and I am certain Intel, do you think we will see any motherboard and case manufacturers get on the nano-ITX size bandwagon ? I don't think they could squeeze a typical desktop processor...

    Bummer ! No 8300G/8500G !!

8500G and 8600G are available on Amazon for $158 and $182 respectively. 8700G is $298. No one seems to have 8300G.

CPU Slow boot ... 5 beeps

So earlier this year I built myself a nice small desktop PC. MITXPC MX500-USB3 Compact Mini-ITX Case (no front USB-C ☹️), Fanless (not true ! A Noctua NH-L9a-AM5 fits, but you can not install 2.5 HDDs) ASRock B650I Liightning AMD Ryzen 7 8700G I also install the motherboard speaker/squeaker...

    Pinout for Dell 220w brick?

Thank you ! I had ASSUMED the spec was much tighter, like 11.9V-12.1V. I was seriously contemplating remaking my adapter (nicely solder and covered in shrink tubing).

    Pinout for Dell 220w brick?

I apologize for resurrecting this old thread, but my question is relevant to the DA-2. Forget the pin out, I am into surgery ! Once you cut off the connector I know these thing for certain The 3 white wires are +12V DC Th 3 black wires are Ground The blue wire is remote On/Off. Shorting to...

CPU Need 12V 200W minimum power brick

Yep ! I used these beef boys from Amazon DC5521 Power Pigtails Cable,14AWG - $7.19 I agree 100% ! The problem is the PicoPSU comes with a female DC5521 barrel jack and the MITXPC MX500-USB3 Mini-ITX Case comes with a pre-punched hole for a barrel jack. I decide to "go with the flow" ...

CPU My review of MITXPC MX500-USB3 case

Better. The Noctua NH-L9a is very quiet (as expected with all Noctua products). You can hear it when it speeds up even a little. IMHO, there is plenty of holes for adequate air flow.

CPU My review of MITXPC MX500-USB3 case

I am not a gamer, so I have not "stress tested" the CPU/fan. (I really wanted a 8300G but they are limited to OEM only until late this year.) No problems, so far ! Almost never get off of the lowest setting. I do currently have the disk drives and bracket sitting directly over the top of the...
