Jarrod’s Tech Tests RTX 4070 Desktop Against RTX 4070 Laptop With Brutal Results

Jarrod’s Tech has benchmarked the RTX 4070 laptop GPU against the full desktop version, and the results are not pretty. For those that don’t know, Nvidia uses the same name for their laptop GPUs as their desktop models. However, while the names are the same, the specs are very, very different. The laptop GPUs have reduced CUDA cores, reduced clocks, and reduced power usage. The result is that the laptop GPU offers nowhere near the performance of the desktop model of the same name. As the laptop GPUs are often used in SFF prebuilt computers, it’s important know the …

Hardware Unboxed Tests RTX 4070 Against RTX 2070 and Shows Massive Performance Difference

Steve from Hardware Unboxed, seen above cosplaying a high-school guidance counselor, has tested the RTX 4070 against the RTX 2070 with some eye opening results. While the 4070 has most often been tested against the 3070, the 2070 was an incredibly popular card when it was released nearly five years ago (!?!) at $599 for the FE model. A lot of users are considering an upgrade. As it turns out, the new Nvidia card provides a rather substantial update. However, this isn’t all due to the improvement in rendering performance. Hardware Unboxed discovered instances of the 8GB of VRAM …

Zotac Launches Twin Edge RTX 4070

Zotac has launched the new Twin Edge version of their RTX 4070. Coming in at 225.5mm in length and 2.2 slots in width, the Twin Edge is a welcome relief to SFF fans who are short on case space. There are two versions of the card to choose from. The first runs at base clock. The second has a modest overclock of 2490MHz boost clock from 2475MHz boost lock. The fan hubs are also different colors.           The cards price wasn’t listed at the time of writing. The Founders Edition RTX 4070 is $599 for …

Nvidia RTX 4070 Review Roundup: Now You Can Have 25% More Performance Than a RTX 3070 for 20% More Cost Than a RTX 3070.

I’m not going to do a long write up on this because this launch can be summoned up as this: 1. This card is too expensive. As LTT put it, it’s 27% faster than a RTX 3070 while costing 20% more than a RTX 3070. 2. It’s roughly as fast as a RTX 3080. 3. Frame Generation doesn’t improve the latency of a game, and in fact can make it worse. It improves smoothness of image but not play. 4. It should have had 16GB of memory on a 256bit bus for the price their asking. 12GB is …
