Gemini Lake Keeps Flooding In With Gigabyte’s J4005N-D2P

The successor to Intel’s Apollo Lake, “Gemini Lake” is the latest generation of embedded processors from the company. Only two sub-brands populate this core’s lineup – Pentium Silver and Celeron. Designed for embedded systems, industrial systems and the like, the chips are 6-10 watt 2-4 core units with Intel UHD graphics 600/605. Gigabyte has launched the J4005N-D2P, a Celeron J4005 based board. The embedded processor is clocked at 2GHz, with turbo to 2.7. This dual core (no Hyperthreading) with Intel UHD Graphics 600, isn’t a powerhouse, but at 10 watts, we wouldn’t expect it to be. From Gigabyte: Built-in Intel® Celeron® J4005 …

Intel Manages to Get a 16 Core Xeon Under 45W.. With a Few Catches

Intel has launched their Xeon D-1571 SoC, a 16 core server and workstation class CPU that supports hyperthreading. This System on Chip SKU is based on the Broadwell architecture and Intel has managed to get it to run at 45w TDP! An amazing feat of engineering considering the CPU has 16 cores and HT, making 32 threads. This is an embedded style SoC though, and will only be available on pricey, but sturdy, server and workstation boards from the likes of Supermicro (like the one pictured above) and Tyan. Spec sheet courtesy of CPU-World.com. The catches? Well, it is an …
