Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC appears

A product page listing has shown up for the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC, a short version of the GTX 1070. This is, to my knowledge, the first short GTX 1070 card we’ve seen, but hopefully not the last!

The boost/base clocks on the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC are a bit more conservative than the other non-reference Gigabyte 1070’s due to the small, and thus less-capable, cooler. It clocks in at 1746 MHz/1556 MHz (boost/base) in OC Mode and 1721 MHz/1531 MHz in Gaming Mode. Power delivery is via a single 8-pin connector.

The dimensions are 131mm wide and 169mm long, at least according to the official specifications. Based on some rough extrapolations from the images on Gigabyte’s website, it appears that they are measuring just the PCB. From what I can see the shroud is not included in those measurements so the actual size is a bit larger than the specs alone would indicate.

It’s hard to tell due to perspective, but I estimate that the shroud extends 4-6mm past the PCB at both the top and the rear of the card. In addition to that, the retention bracket does not seem to be included in the length measurement. So to determine whether this card will fit in a particular case, a few mm will need to be added to account for that too.

Overall, I’m really glad that the GTX 1070 line will see ITX cards like the preceding GTX 970’s, but I really wish the various AIB vendors would could up with a consistent system for measuring the physical dimensions. As it stands, it’s basically a guessing game as to how they measured the card and what features of the card are included or not included in the official dimensions.
