GPU Zotac low-profile 1050ti - cooling system and VRM

Hi everyone,

Recently I've bought a used low-profile Zotac 1050ti, and till now I'm totaly happy with this videocard. I have just a single concern. Compairing to competitors, Zotac has a giant heatsink, which also cools the VRM. This was one of the reasons to buy it.
But now I am asking myself: is this heatsink so well developed - or is the VRM so bad that it needs cooling?

Does the heatsink make direct contact with the VRM, or is it simply machined to clear the VRM?

It does contact the mosfets via thermal pad.
