Well they are at least trying, but for SFF this would be a troublesome card, you need airflow over it in order to have it function properly. Perhaps that the S4 Mini could work because of the open nature of the design.
I do hope that they will release a single slot blower version of that PCB design!

Nice and simple. Hard to tell from the angles if the cooler is low enough to be single slot, then you can just put in a custom single slot bracket.

That would be perfect with the S4 Mini because it seems you could fit a 12-15mm fan over it.

Thanks for digging up that article! 178mm still should be OK, but yeah the heatsink from the new shots you shared looks like it might be more than an inch. But if it is 8" in total, it should fit in the S4 Mini!

Can someone work their size-comparison magic on this image? My technique (holding up a ruler to the screen), isn't particularly accurate, but it seems like the heatsink overhangs by about 40mm, so total length without tabs would be 218. Not suitable for ITX GPU cases, unfortunately.

Definitely 30-40mm. There's a bit of perspective so it's hard to measure exactly but I think it's closer to 40mm.
