Hey guys, new to the forum and new to PC building.
I'm in the midst of planning my first build (SFF) and just need some advice regarding flex psu Wattage recommendations. I've asked around and got very conflicting views as to whether or not a HDPlex 200w will support/be safe enough for this build. Not sure what to make of the differences between card power consumption and total system power consumption and what that means for this build.
The Problem:
Some sources say about GTX 1650 power consumption: servethehome says max load is like 68W(?), Guru3d says gaming load is approx 79W. In terms of total system power consumption, anandtech says that total system power consumption is 214W. The recommended PSU according to GeForce is '300w'.
The Pluto Chopin + GTX 1050 Ti Project seemed to perform well with only a 160W HDPlex(!). They are both 65W and 75W TDP + other components, just like my components. Ive also seen other crazy PSU/GPU combos every now and then. Hence my confusion.
Wouldn't that suggest that my build could do well with just a 200W HDPlex? Or would I be better off using a 400W? Why/Why not?
Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (65W TDP)
GPU: GTX 1650 4gb Graphics card (75W TDP)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9a
Mobo: Asus B4500-l
RAM: 2 x 8gb Corsair 3200
Storage: 1 x 500gb Samsung NVME ssd
Fans: 3-4 x Noctua 40mm
*PSU: HDPlex 200w or 400w PSU
The application will be a sleeper/workstation with very light gaming, hence my GPU selection and the 3600 for 6-core work loads. I do a fair bit of large spreadsheet work, some photo/video editing, heavy web browsing (20-40 tabs open), web dev and design. I didn't want to go the 400w purely because its bigger than the 200w unit but I obvs dont want it to start a fire/die etc. What do you guys think?
Thanks for your help in advance!
