My end game would be a gaming PC the size of a Mac Mini. Which, maybe sometime in the future

Aah, gotcha. I guess it varies by case. The K59 came with all metal panels and an optional clear acrylic one.

Yeah, all that glass side panels get on my nerves, too. If you want to show off, you'd pick a different case anyway. Or make it like the NR200P - comes both with glass and just vented side panel. Pick the one you like, and no more mind twisting how to modify or custom 3d print / CNC / laser-cut / dremel a properly vented side panel.
