Yeah, I'm a little concerned about the height clearance using an adapter like that and a USB-A connecter for the blinkstick

I've used this before. It's not so compact but it works.

But have they used it in a S4 Mini?!?!?!?!?!

Regarding those cable/adapters that plug into one set of the onboard headers, how hard would those be to re-wire and sleeve? I had to cut open a USB cable and re-splice it for work a while back and did not enjoy fighting with all the shielding.

Just a follow-up to the Blinkstick: There's a new GUI in the works for those, and the developer has a thread about that here. You can already set a few hardware things as events to trigger LED animations, maybe you could ask over there whether he's planning to include temperature sensors?
