Hi Folks :)

My boss ordered a box of PC parts and asked me to put it together (and I didn't even think to verify the 1151 compatibility...)

Put everything together, and it wouldn't boot. I got curious, and discovered the mismatch, an i5 8400 and ASRock H270M-ITX/ac

I've since sourced an 8th Gen board, but I was unable to return the H270 due to it having damaged pins.

What I want to know is, can I still use the H270 board for a future build?

The diagrams below point out the to damaged pins, which were reserved for Kaby.

My suspicion is that the pins have shorted, as they appear bluish/burnished.
Yet they are also deformed, so its not beyond the realm of comprehension that I damaged them during CPU installation :(

I'm seeking advice, as if the damaged pins are not required for a Kaby processor I should be good to go, right?

Cheers :)
