Are these http://in-win.com.tw/Power/en/goods.php?act=file&id=IP-AD-Series the smallest available ATX compatible PSUs? Something maybe a little shorter? The Supermicro PWS-407P-1R does 400W in a similar 40x54 profile at only 220mm surely it is possible to squeeze 180W or so into 150mm... Or, there are Flex ATX PSUs with 500W power, surely half the physical size could deliver 180W...

I am aware of the Mean Well EPP 200 + G-Unique but I would rather look around for something premade and cheaper first.

They're (the In-Win) pretty small, however I've found they aren't the best PSU - the one in my Chopin struggles to run a 80ish watt APu rig that is stable on any other PSU I have.

That's quite sad... I am eyeing the Dell KG1G0 (and a million other names) and a XT PicoPSU. The Dell PSU happens to have the right 4 pin connector for the PicoPSU and the proprietary 8 pin is only used to switch it on http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19585442 this basically has the pinout . I do not yet know the actual size of this PSU but from the looks it must be very thin because the C13 plug barely fits. I have a strange case in mind that this might be a good fit for. We will see!

Or I could use one of the modules of an 1U or so redundant power supply, the rcgroups forum has pinouts... this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerE...347902?hash=item2f0598923e:g:ZPwAAOSwgZ1Xs1eQ again can't be that big just by looking at the connectors but god know how long it is.

Chances are, as this is one module from a redundant PSU that it doesnt have standard connectors on the other side but will have either an edge connector or some kind of propriety solution. The PSU cage its designed to slot into usually has load balancing, supply monitoring, etc in it. Or to put it another way, a single module from a dual redundant PSU package is not built to be used stand alone and connected directly to your PC's components and lacks the connectors and / or some of the componentry needed to do so.

I just want 12V out of it and that is apparently happening according to quite a few bitcoin miners and RC people :) But before going to that route, I'd like to see whether the KG1G0 fits the dream size. If it does, it has a very nice 4 pin 12V output, I will get a 4 pin splitter, connect one end into the motherboard, the other into the PicoPSU, unplug all cables from the PicoPSU and then send the whole case idea to Protocase and once I have a prototype, then show you all... I hope you will like it :D I am planning an 1050 Ti barebone around 3L with an internal PSU from off the shelf components except for the case. No riser and no small fans. Barebone instead of an empty case because while the components are readily available they are not exactly trivial to purchase. As you can see from this thread :)

And it will be thin. Definitely below 50mm. How much below? We will see :)

And if I need to resort to a redundant PSU, the connector is something like https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/51762-10802400ABLF/609-4020-ND/1492063 this and I have the pinout already :)
