I'm excited for AMD's Raven Ridge, but I'm not sure what a good SFF solution is that suits the budget value aspect of choosing such a part.

There are very tiny cases such as the Mini-Box M350, which don't even allow for expansion cards. Maybe find a case with a similar form factor, but a bit of extra height for your CPU cooler.

I actually deal with a variant of that case a lot at work and have always liked it! I have never really pushed any hardware inside of it but it would almost certainly do better thermally than my M350 suggestion.

I would say In-Win Chopin. It seems perfect for APU.

That looks great.
1. I can't find anyplace to buy it though.

2. Curious if I could swap out that PSU which from the looks of it has one of those tiny loud fans and give it one of those HDPLEX Pico PSUs with the internal brick

3. Can it be mounted to the VESA mount spot behind my monitor?

1. Microcenter
2.Yes, but with a bit of modding
3.No, but that can be fixed with modding too.

I actually have different answers, based on the case that we would get at work. I'll try to get you some info on it Monday, IDK if our computer dealer will give me any.

1. We buy full systems from a dealer in North Dakota, they still build new machines in the case so they either have a ton of stock, or are still able to order it.
2. The PSUs in the case are a standard server form factor. Rather than replacing it with a HDPLEX style unit, I'd look into sourcing a 1U (I think it's called?) PSU that has your target wattage, so long as you're doing AC-DC power conversion. Might be an easier process overall, and you might be able to swap a noisy fan yourself. That's a matter of preference, though.
3. The cases we order come with two "+" shaped pieces attached, one on the backplate and one on the "bottom", they both can be removed with four screws and they can attach to every surface but the "top" and "front." They fit into a Vesa (100mm and 75mm) compatible "X" and rotate to lock into it. We use these mounting fixtures at my work and they stand up to probably a lot more abuse than I would assume you would put it through.

There's no height to accommodate the HDplex DC-ATX PSU.

Maybe I should go with some kind of smaller mATX/ATX solution? At the same time I would love to make it a sleeper build I wonder if I could make something inside my old HP 6005 Compaq pro.

Being low profile while still having an intake fan not blocked by the monitor sitting ontop of it is a really nice scenario IMO. Sadly this case is almost entirely proprietary.

I had a spare In Win bl631 from my old job, stuffed 4 hard drives in it, and currently using it as a family PC. It's basically the same shape as that HP and my monitor fits perfectly on top while it is sitting horizontally (and surprisingly works very well)! I'm at work or I'd take a quick picture of it.
