New Post Drafts "saves" and disappearing?

My draft for a new post disappeared are there time limits on how long a new post is erased?

I think the time limit varies since it's part of an automated maintenance system.

It's mainly meant so you don't lose your work if you accidentally close the tab, it's not a long-term thing at all.

For the people like me that only post half the stuff they type in the comments, a way for the auto-saving drafts to "clear" is to select all the text in the quick-reply box and replace it by a single space and have it auto-save. That way you don't have to see that "probably not the greatest post ever", every single time sitting in the quick reply reminding you you need to think before you type.
