Motherboard MXM Motherboards

I have this fantasy project to be able to build my own modular laptop (cpu and gpu mainly). In a perfect world I would use desktop grade parts, but I am only one person and I don't have a lifetime to design this project, so I was attempting to look into MXM mobos / GPUs, but I can't really find any forums / info guides. My question is if anyone can throw me a link, or if there is a better technology than MXM.
